This International Women’s Day celebrated annually on March 8th, is a global day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also serves as a call to action for gender equality and the empowerment of women worldwide.
ScaffPlan is excited to advocate this important day and use it as an opportunity to celebrate and express our gratitude towards the women in our workplaces, families, friends and on a further global scale.
Across all our operations, ScaffPlan actively promotes gender equality and works to inspire others in the industry to help change the status quo. We are proud to have a 50:50 gender diversity across our organisation and management team.
Every day we offer an inclusive culture by doing simple things like removing gender bias, providing family flexibility, training, networking, and growth opportunities for everyone.
This year, the theme for International Women's Day 2023 is 'Embrace Equity' is an idea that really resonates with us — especially operating in the construction industry.
Traditionally scaffolding has been a male-dominated field, where women have been vastly underrepresented. In the last few years, the number of women in construction has been steadily increasing, with statistics showing between 9-13% of employees being women.
Despite the lack of numbers, women are making valuable contributions to the industry and breaking down significant barriers. To fully realise the benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce, the industry must continue to work towards eliminating gender bias and creating a culture that values and supports all workers, regardless of gender.
